Mitsotakis: Turkey in frenzy over Greek islands
The Prime Minister referred to the threats of Turkey for the Greek islands, speaking about the rhetorical fireworks of the neighboring country that are escalating
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about upgrading Greece’s position on the world geopolitical map, during his speech from the floor of Parliament in the context of the debate on the bill of the Ministry of National Defense “To strengthen the country’s defense shield”. At the same time, he sent a loud message to Turkey against the background of threats to the sovereignty of Greek islands.
“The message that the Greek Parliament is called to send today is a message of unity and national responsibility,” said the Prime Minister, starting his speech from the floor of Parliament.
Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that “through the bill of the Ministry of Defense, the national arsenal is strengthened and the position of Greece on the world geopolitical map is emphatically upgraded. The Belharra frigates are coming to strengthen the “backbone” of the Greek Fleet. The state accepted the suggestions of the Navy and now the surface and the bottom of the country are significantly shielded.”
The prime minister spoke of a “coherent and well-structured plan that spans the entire spectrum of the Armed Forces”. At the same time, as he said, “a model of defense transnational cooperation is being established”.
Regarding the purchase of Belharra frigates, he stressed that “their purchase was made on the most favorable terms for the Greek economy”, as nothing, as he mentioned, escapes from the fiscal balance.

According to the Prime Minister, “the officers of the Armed Forces are our greatest weapon, they have the right to command the most modern means and they should have our full attention and support.
I ask everyone to restrain themselves and take responsibility for the issue of costs. Our country secured Rafale on interest terms, said, moreover, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
