Greek cabinet to meet at 11.00 on Tuesday
The fires and the improvement of the civil protection mechanism main topics on the agenda of the cabinet
The cabinet is expected to meet at 11:00. Main topics on the agenda are forest fires, state aid measures and finally upgrading the operational capabilities of civil protection.
During his speech on Monday in Parliament, Mr. Mitsotakis said that “Despite the fire’s advance, no life was lost, it proves that in the face of nature’s fury, no measure will ever be enough”
“This summer finds us with unrelenting heatwaves, strong winds, in Rhodes we have persistent winds exceeding 6 Beaufort for days.” He went on saying
“We thank the fire brigade, civil protection, armed forces, police, volunteers for their self-sacrifice. For the next few weeks we must be on constant alert. We are at war with fire.”

According to the Prime Minister’s schedule for Tuesday, July 25, the Council of Ministers meets at 11:00 a.m. under Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the following topics:

-Proposal from the Minister of State Akis Skertsos for the approval of Ministry targets for 2024 within the framework of the Unified Government Policy Plan – Recovery and Resilience Fund Actions,
-General information from the Minister of the Interior, Niki Kerameos, on the 2024 recruitment planning,
-Proposal from the Minister of Justice Giorgos Floridis for the selection of President and Prosecutor of the Supreme Court,
-Proposal from the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias and the Deputy Minister Christos Triandopoulos for the amendment of the Act of the Council of Ministers for the establishment, formation and operation of the Government Committee for State Aid.
