The average interest rate on consumer loans with a specific duration and floating interest rate decreased by 35 basis points to 10.49%. The average interest rate on floating rate mortgages increased by 5 basis points to 2.43%.

The average interest rate on business loans with no fixed duration remained unchanged at 4.34%. The corresponding interest rate on business loans decreased by 5 basis points to 6.58%.

The average interest rate on new business loans with specific duration and floating interest rate increased in March 2021, by 49 basis points to 3.22%, while the corresponding amount of loans decreased to 544 million euros compared to 907 million euros last month. . In particular, the average interest rate on floating-rate loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) fell to 3.22% from 3.37% last month, while the corresponding amount of loans increased to € 391 million from € 321 million. last month.

Regarding the structure of interest rates in terms of the amount of the loan, it is noted that the average interest rate for loans up to 250,000 euros decreased by 19 basis points to 4.51%, for loans from 250,001 to 1 million euros decreased by 20 basis points to 3 , 11%, while for loans over 1 million euros it increased by 47 basis points to 2.92%.

Interest rates on existing deposits and loans

In March 2021, the weighted average interest rates on the existing balances of all deposits and loans remained almost unchanged. The interest rate margin also remained almost unchanged at 3.61 percentage points.

The weighted average interest rate on all existing deposits (including overnight deposits) remained almost unchanged at 0.06%.

The average interest rate on existing deposit balances with an agreed maturity of up to 2 years by households remained almost unchanged at 0.16%. The corresponding interest rate on corporate deposits remained unchanged at 0.11%.

Existing Loans

The weighted average interest rate on existing loans stood at 3.67%, compared to 3.69% in the previous month.

In particular, the average interest rate on existing mortgage balances over 5 years remained unchanged at 2.01%. The average interest rate on the existing balances of consumer and other loans to individuals and private non-profit institutions with a maturity of more than 5 years was 6.60% from 6.57% in the previous month. The respective interest rates on business and professional loans remained almost unchanged at 3.20% and 4.22%.
