Staikouras: The Greek government’s priority is implementation of large infrastructure projects
The minister said that the first moments in the ministry, “are moments of hard work and cooperation”
“The main priority of the government is the implementation of major infrastructure projects,” the new Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Staikouras, told APE-MBE.
“Many positive steps have been taken in the past years, in infrastructure and transport, but challenges lie ahead. Problems exist and always will. However, we must, as much as we can, limit any risks that will emerge each time.
Main priorities
“The main priorities we have set are to implement the major infrastructure projects, among which there are some very emblematic ones in Greece, to further promote high-quality “green” transport and transport services, to promote safety in infrastructure and transport, and to strengthen mobility and accessibility” emphasized Mr. Staikouras. Regarding urban transport and trains, the Minister of Transport pointed out that “the priority of the government is the modernization of the network and the safety of passengers”.
With reference to the “blue” file he received from the prime minister, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport said: “We are working intensively with the officials of the ministry in order to listen to their own positions, so that we can realistically and effectively implement with speed and safety, the commitments we made”.
Finally, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport said that the first moments in the ministry, “are moments of hard work and cooperation with the service agents and general secretaries, so that we can be informed and at the same time prepare for the programmatic statements of the government”.
