A leading member of the anarchist group Rouvikonas was taken into custody after the group staged an abortive foray at an MPs office and after posting a threat against an Athens television station.
It is unclear if charges have been filed.
The immediate cause for the arrest was an emergency prosecutor’s order, after Rouvikonas placed a post on social media in which it threatened to burn down SKAI television.
“We are going to burn down SKAI. Today, tomorrow, in 10 years, I don’t know,” a prominent member posted on Facebook.
That triggered the immediate intervention of the head of the Athens Prosecutors’ Office, Elias Zagoraios, who ordered a preliminary investigation in the case.
