It was announced on Monday that journalist Alexandros Velios has passed away at the age of 63 from unassisted suicide. The journalist, who had been battling cancer for the past few months, had previously made headlines when he announced his intention to commit suicide.
In a statement he issued, Velios explained that he decided to put an end his life with dignity. The journalist’s wife later confirmed his passing on Facebook, noting that he “bravely left this world” from the comfort of his home in Gerakas.
Velios also uploaded a final video on Youtube, which includes a hand-written note read by the journalist himself as a final goodbye.
