Greek Tourism: Samothrace at the center of interest of the Turkish tourist market
A familiarization trip was also organized on the island by the Hellenic Tourism Agency’s Turkey bureau
The island of Samothrace, a destination very close to Turkey, although not particularly well-known, was at the center of the interest of the Turkish tourist market and the Turkish press.
With the aim of promoting new destinations, a familiarization trip was organized by the Hellenic Tourism Agency-|EOT’s Turkey bureau in collaboration with the municipality of Samothrace, in which three members of TÜRSAB (Union of Turkish Travel Agencies), three influencers and two journalists participated.
Special program
The special program drawn up by the municipality of Samothrace, in collaboration with EOT, included guided tours to get to know the history, traditions, local products and the unique natural beauty of Samothrace, with the participants of the trip describing their impressions with very positive comments but also with the obvious intention of immediately creating packages of offers for Turkish tourists.
Visits were made to the Archaeological Museum and the Archaeological Site of Samothrace, to Gria Vathra, to the “Fonias” Microbrewery of Samothrace, while there was also a tour of the island by boat with a stop at Pachia Ammos beach.
In addition, the guests visited the Cultural Center of Samothrace, in Chora and were received by the mayor of Samothrace Nikolaos Galatomos, the deputy mayor of Tourism Yiannis Glinias and local agencies.
