Data from 2016 shows that a total of 33,210 people received Greek citizenship in 2016.

The data was released today by Eurostat.

Of these, 86 percent were Albanian nationals, 1.5 percent were Ukrainian nationals, and 1.2 percent were Russian nationals.

A total of 995,000 people in 2016 received the citizenship of an EU member state (compared to 841,000 in 2015, and 889,000 in 2014).

Of these, 12 percent were citizens of another EU member-state, and the majority were citizens of non-EU countries, or without citizenship.
