In what is viewed as a significant vote of confidence in Greek tourism, the global American hotel chain Hyatt is poised to launch Athens’ newest hotel, the Grand Hyatt Athens.

This is Hyatt’s second hotel in Greece, the first being in the northern port city of Thessaloniki. It is the company’s third hotel in Europe.

The new hotel is the former Athens Ledra (originally Ledra Marriot), which has been gutted and remodeled.

The hotel has 310 rooms and is located on Syggrou Avenue, in the popular Koukaki area of Athens. It is near golf courses and restaurants, and at a short distance from Philopappos Hill, which is near the Acropolis.

The hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of 2018, and is reportedly designed to reflect Greek culture in its architectural touches.

Pavlos Kosmopoulos, of the Hines real estate development company, underlined the importance of such an important global commercial brand investing in Greece.
