Immediate reaction by Greek political leadership to heinous acid attack against Church hierarchs
The attack took place at the Petraki Monastery in the Kolonaki district, where the Church’s Holy Synod convenes
Greece’s political leadership immediately reacted to Wednesday afternoon’s shocking acid attack against several Orthodox Church hierarchs, with PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis immediately phoning the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos to extend his solidarity and support.
Both Mitsotakis and the relevant health minister said the state will provide any necessary medical care for those injured, with beyond the Church Metropolitans, including two attorneys, staff and two police officers.
The attack took place at the Petraki Monastery in the Kolonaki district, where the Church’s Holy Synod convenes, and during a disciplinary hearing against an Archimandrite from the northern city of Veria involved in a drug case.
