OSE: Restoration of the railway network from the catastrophic fires in Varybobi
From Friday, 13.8.2021, the entire line will be put into circulation, fully electrified
The double electrified railway line Athens-Thessaloniki, which had been damaged by the catastrophic fire between the kilometer positions 26 + 000 to 29 + 000 and 35 + 000 to 48 + 500, is now in full operation after its restoration by OSE. , in the areas of Varybombi and Ag. Stefanou-Afidnon.
According to a relevant announcement of OSE, as soon as it was allowed by the Civil Protection, on the night of Sunday 8.8.21, the crews of OSE intervened immediately in order to inspect the situation along the railway network and to see the expansion of the damages.
They then proceeded with the restoration work. The line between Athens and Oinoi was put into circulation (diesel), on Monday, 9.8.21.
From Friday, 13.8.2021, the whole line will be put into traffic, fully electrified, as the damages were restored in masts, consoles, electric cables but also in the optical fiber that controls the electrification, which was also restored, to return to full operation of the railway network.
OSE Management thanks its employees in the Inspection, Inspection and Rehabilitation crews and the companies cooperating with it, for the speed and efficiency in restoring the line to full operation.
