Commission: € 20 million aid for media affected by the pandemic
The scheme was approved under the provisional framework for state aid – Public support will take the form of direct grants
A Greek aid program of 20 million euros has been approved by the European Commission.
The aid is intended to support newspapers, magazines, regional media service providers and radio stations affected by the coronavirus epidemic and the restrictive measures the Greek government had to take to limit its spread, the commission said in a statement.
The scheme was approved under the Provisional Framework for State Aid. Public support will take the form of direct grants.
The Commission found that the Greek scheme complied with the conditions set out in the provisional framework.
In particular, the aid will not exceed 1.8 million euros per company and will be granted by 31 December 2021 at the latest.
