Turkey and its role regarding Cyprus, Syria, the Aegean, and the eastern Mediterranean, is high on the agenda
PM Alexis Tsipras, Cyprus’ President Nicos Anastasiadis, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu at today’s Fourth Cyprus-Greece-Israel summit will discuss the trilateral cooperation in the areas of energy and security, as well as other sectors.
“We are proceeding based on the principles of good neighbourly relations, further establishing our cooperation in areas of mutual interest, to the benefit of our peoples,” Tsipras said in a tweet.
“We are creating bridges of communication between our governments and our peoples. This approach is reflected in the title of this thematic summit: “Building Bridges Between People”,” Anastasiadis said in a tweet.
“It is a good idea for us to talk,” Netanyahu said at the start of the summit.
Turkey and its role regarding Cyprus, Syria, the Aegean, and the eastern Mediterranean, is high on the agenda.
Developments in the broader Middle East, Iran and Syria will also be discussed.
Energy cooperation and promoting the East-Med gas pipeline also tops the agenda.
The three countries’ ministers of energy, environment, and communications-telecoms will also hold separate talks and sign trilateral agreements.
The three leaders will discuss the prospects of signing a broader inter-governmental agreement by the end of the year.
The Greek government delegation includes Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, Digital Policy and Communications Minister Nikos Pappas, Environment and Energy Minister Yorgos Stathakis, and Alternate Environment and energy Minister Sokratis Famellos.
