Though he has not publicly weighed in on the details of debt relief and post-bailout supervision, German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz appeared upbeat about Greece’s progress and prospects, upon his arrival at today’s Eurogroup meetin in Sofia, Bulgaria, which holds the EU’s rotating presidency.

“We can have more optimistic views about Greece today compared to a couple of years ago,” Scholz said in the customary “doorstep statement” when he arrived for today’s Eurogroup, essentially noting improvement after SYRIZA’s first year in power.
