A modern and organized business park will be created in the Spilies area of the Municipality of Fyli for the installation of transport companies currently based in the Eleonas area, as T. Zeliaskopoulos, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund-HRADF, informed the representatives of the transport companies, while at the same time he presented the timetable, the object and the benefits of the project, which concerns the creation of a green and innovative Business Park, on a property of approximately 45 hectares.
PPP or concession contract
The budget of the project, which is expected to be implemented either by the Public Private Partnership (PPP) method or by entering into a concession agreement, will amount to 32 million euros and includes interventions to connect the park with Attiki Odos and the national railway network. It is also envisaged to provide incentives to transport companies to relocate to Fyli and for this purpose resources of 21 million euros have been secured from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of HRADF pointed out that the creation of the Business Park will have multiple benefits for the national economy and the region of the Tribe. As he emphasized, “with the implementation of the project, our country will acquire a modern Business Park that will upgrade the combined transport/logistics industry and will be an important driver of development by attracting investments and creating new jobs. It will contribute to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the transport companies of the capital, the development of the logistics sector, the traffic relief of the Attica basin and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Vital spaces in Eleonas will be freed up, which will be utilized for the benefit of the residents and visitors of Athens. The relocation of the transport companies to the Municipality of Fyli is going to be the starting point for the radical transformation of the development model and the reconstruction of a new identity for the entire region”.
Completion of studies
The project has been included in the Development Program of Contracts of Strategic Importance following the approval of the Government Committee on Contracts of Strategic Importance. For the completion of the studies and maturation actions of the project, which are to be implemented by the Strategic Importance Contracts Unit of HRADF, funding of 1 million euros has been secured from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, while for this purpose a contract has been signed between Municipality of Fyli and HRADF. The studies and the licensing process are expected to be completed by 2023, while the tender is estimated to be completed next year. According to the existing schedule, the relocation of the businesses and the start of operation of the Business Park is expected by the end of 2025.
