“The path is opening for the full normalisation of Greece-Albania bilateral ties,” a government source noted after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras held talks with Albania counterpart Edi Rama, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Greece and Albania are ready for a strategic partnership that will resolve critical differences and promote accession negotiations between Tirana and the European Union, the same source noted.
The two leaders discussed the areas that need to be resolved before the conclusion of a bilateral agreement.
The rights of the Greek minority in Albania were also high on the agenda.
Tsipras accepted the invitation of his Albanian counterpart to visit Tirana.

They also discussed their four-way cooperation with Bulgaria and Romania, the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, and various other initiatives for regional cooperation.
