Anti-authority protesters occupy Athens Bar Association
...
About a dozen anti-authority activists barged into the building of the Athens Bar Association in Central Athens and staged a symbolic sit-in to show solidarity with the jailed anarchist robber Grigoris Tsironis.
The eleven trespassers were rounded up by the DIAS motorcycle police and transported to police headquarters.
The protesters reached the fifth floor of the building and distributed fliers with a text written by Tsironis written on it.
Tsironis was a member of a group named “robbers in black”, which carried out seven bank robberies between November, 2002 and January, 2006, with a total take of about 700,000 euros.
Slightly before the Bar Association incident, another ten individuals who had barged into the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP S.A.), were arrested by police.
Anarchist occupations of public buildings and even Embassies have become more frequent in recent months, and opposition parties have staunchly criticised the government for not acting to protect building and prosecute the trespassers.
