Election for the new President of Parliament under way

The secret vote for the election of a new President of Parliament is currently under way, with SYRIZA’s Zoi Konstantopoulou being the government-sponsored candidate.

Both New Democracy and PASOK have publicly supported Mrs. Konstantopoulou’s candidacy. The election of the Parliament’s Vice Presidents, Deans and Secretaries will take place in separate votes in the afternoon.

For the three positions of Vice President the candidates are Alexis Mitropoulos (1^st VP), Yannis Balafas (2^nd VP), Despina Charalambidou (3^rd VP), while Nikitas Kaklamanis will be New Democracy’s candidate.

The candidates for the Dean positions are Nasos Athanasiou and Giorgos Pantzas, while the secretary candidates are Panagiota Dritseli, Danae Tzika, Zisis Zannas and Vasilis Tsirkas.

Furthermore SYRIZA’s Christos Mantas was appointed as his party’s parliamentary group secretary, while Nikos Filis, Thanasis Petrakos and Olga Gerovasili were appointed as parliamentary representatives. Kostas Athanasiou was appointed director of the Parliamentary Group, while Vasilis Hatzilamprou was appointed coordinator of the Government Task Audit Committee (EEKE).
