The debate on the critical omnibus bill, which contains a series of prior actions and measures, began on Saturday morning in Parliament. Aside from a series of indirect tax hikes, this bill introduces the much-debated privatization ‘super fund’ and the automatic fiscal adjustment mechanism.
Proceedings in Parliament began on Saturday morning with the Democratic Alignment arguing that the bill violates constitutional provisions. Further tension was caused between Golden Dawn and SYRIZA MPs, suggesting the debate will be heated.
The Minister of Finance Euclid Tsakalotos is expected to address Parliament at 7pm.
