The music that Mikis Theodorakis composed for the 1969 film Z has been used by the Kurdish fighters to inspire the defenders of Kobane against the advance of the Islamic State.
A video has circulated online showing Kurdish female fighters listening to Theodorakis’ music, while defending the city on the Syrian-Turkish border.
