Eurostat: Inflation in Greece in Oct. at 3.9%, up from 2.4% last month; foods prices still outpace others
The inflation rate for the Eurozone eased to 2.9 percent this month

The inflation rate in Greece rose in October, calculated at 3.9 percent on an annual basis, up from 2.4 percent in the preceding month, September 2023, according to Eurostat.
More ominously, the category “foods, alcohol and tobacco” – with foodstuffs dominating interest – was almost double than the overall rate, which totaled 7.5 percent.
Conversely, the inflation rate for the Eurozone eased to 2.9 percent this month, down from 4.3 percent in September 2023.
According to a Eurostat announcement on Tuesday, inflation decreased in Germany – the Euro area’s economic “locomotive” – to 3 percent in October, the lowest figure recorded since June 2021.
