Meet DCA CURRENT:LA FOOD community partner Los Angeles Eats Itself. Created by Jason Keller, they describe themselves as “a dinner series where cuisine and LA noir merge like freeway on-ramps into a savory digestible history. As food rapidly becomes an aesthetic experience of choice, cities are increasingly seen through the lens of their edible itineraries.” Experience Los Angeles Eats Itself with artists Julio César Morales and Max La Rivere-Hedrick's public art exhibition premiering as part of CURRENT:LA FOOD on Saturday, October 5 until Sunday, November 3. @eat.non.food’s functioning algae bioreactor is housed in a greenhouse located onsite at the Orcutt Ranch. Throughout #CurrentLA FOOD, live micro-algae have grown and multiplied, observable by the changing shade and density of green within the water. The bioreactor creates the perfect environment for algae to grow, and they double in size every 24 hours. Like other plants and organisms, the cell structure of the resulting microalgae comprises oils, carbohydrates, and proteins that provide a nutrient-dense food source while removing carbon from the atmosphere. See it now until this Sunday, Nov 3. Hours: Saturday & Sunday 10am-2pm) | #icala #publicart #bioreactor #algae #losangeles #laart
