12 years full of successes and titles…

It’s been 12 years since the day Vangelis Marinakis assumed the reins of Olympiacos. Specifically, it was on June 18, 2010 when Vangelis Marinakis became the leader of the Olympiacos football team, with 12 years passing since then, a period in which the club has experienced astounding moments in Greece and Europe.

It’s not only the pro football team with its domestic titles and prominent qualifications in European competitions, but also the amateur Olympiacos’ sports teams, which have taken the Greek colors to the highest level of European competition. The Olympiacos pro football team over the past 12 years under Vangelis Marinakis’ leadership has won a total of 10 Greek super league championships! A fourth star was sown on the team’s jerseys, with a fifth star in sight, as Olympiacos has won a total of 47 Greek football championships!

Moreover, the Piraeus team won four Greek league Cups during the same period, achieving the “Double” in the seasons 2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15 and 2019-20.

Major victories in Europe

The Marinakis era at Olympiacos is also linked with major victories by the club in European competitions. The “Reds” have posted victories in Champions League play against such teams as Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Similarly in the Europa League competition, the Piraeus side beat AC Milan at its Karaiskakis Stadium home field to advance to the group stage of the tournament, while also overcoming Arsenal in London to advance to the Europa League Group of 16!

It’s not only the successes of Olympiacos’ pro football team over the past 12 years that are significant, as the presence of Vangelis Marinakis at the helm of the multi-sports club has led to its dramatic growth and dominance at all levels.

Olympiacos has experienced memorable moments in conquering European titles and sweeping everything in Greece. The fact that Vangelis Marinakis has contributed millions of euros over the past years is characteristic, as the amateur Olympiacos multi-sports club has brought home eight European titles, with the women’s water polo team accounting for six of the trophies, followed by one by the men’s water polo team and another European championship by the women’s volleyball team.

This performance makes Olympiacos the biggest multi-sport club in the world, with successes at all levels.
