Building material prices in Greece increased by 11.5 percent in January 2023, compared with the corresponding month in 2022, with all categories posting increases, sans electricity.

Specifically, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced that prices rose by 25.4 percent for bricks; 14.4 percent for steel pipes, 14.4 percent for wooden planks and 9.2 percent for cement, among others. Conversely, electricity prices dropped by 15.4 percent in last month.

The statistics service said the new residential building material price index increased by 11.5 percent in January 2023, compared with the same month in 2022; rising by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month, December 2022.
