International passenger traffic at “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport increased by 5% in January compared to January 2019.

Despite the energy crisis and inflation, travel flows, especially in Athens, are strong, proving that this year’s upgrade of the tourism product brings results even in the off season.

“Tourism is off to a dynamic start for 2023 in Athens. January Athens airport: International passenger traffic increased 5% VS 2019. We implemented the extension of the season and our strategy for tourism 365 days/year is paying off, strengthening the Greek economy,” said Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias in a tweet.
