In 2022, the Greek economy will achieve a triple record in investments, exports and tourism receipts, said the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis during his address at the conference “Investments in Greece & Development Prospects – 2022” organized by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Hellenic Institute of Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development.

“This year we will have an all-time record in investments”, the minister emphasized and added: “During the 1st half of 2022 we had an 11% increase in investments compared to 2021 when we had a 30-year record. It is certain that we will have an all-time record this year. All the big investments that were “stuck” for a number of years – such as the Ellinikon project, are in the implementation phase.

Mr. Georgiadis said that these results are being achieved in the midst of a pandemic and war. “Imagine what we could have achieved if we had peace and tranquility like in the period 2015-2019,” he added. He spoke of collective success, not only of the government but of the Greek people and the business world as a whole.

He noted, however, that global conditions are of great concern. “Imported inflation is a reality. But we will find a way to deal with this, as well as with the rise in interest rates”, he concluded.
