A newly built ship was added to the fleet of “Neptune Lines”, belonging to Melina Travlos’ interests. The ship was launched in Rijeka, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, and the Greek Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Giannis Plakiotakis.
The 200 meter long ‘Neptune Barcelona’ can transport up to 7,000 vehicles, on 13 decks covering an area of 58,000 square metres.
During the ship’s acceptance ceremony, the Croatian Prime Minister emphasized that the completion of the project was a sign of the country’s durable shipbuilding production, adding that the ship was completed under demanding conditions.
For her part, Melina Travlou, President of the Board of Directors of Neptune Lines and Neptune Dry and president of the Greek Shipowners Association, expressed her satisfaction for the cooperation achieved in this project.
“I am grateful and proud to welcome “NEPTUNE BARCELONA” into our family. Her name is a symbol of Neptune’s history, but also of our consistency in building effective life partnerships”, noted Ms. Travlos, adding that it was particularly touching that her daughter, Mariana christened the new ship.
Finally, Mr. Plakiotakis, stated that the European shipbuilding sector is showing signs of recovery and that it is possible for Europe to build high quality RO-RO ships and luxury cruise ships.
Neptune Barcelona is the newest member of Neptune Lines’ 19-vessel fleet and will bear the Greek flag.
