Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator S.A. (IPTO or ADMIE) on Thursday announced that the highest bid in a tender for the upgrading of an undersea power line connecting the mainland with the Ionian island of Zakynthos has been submitted by the Fulgor S.A. company, a member of the Hellenic Cables group.
Due diligence of the bid and a review of the tender process is next up, before any construction phase begins.
The current line has been in operation since 1980, and is now deemed as outdated.
Other international tenders have been declared for power line connections for other Ionian islands, with upgrades and modernization of power supply to the Ionian islands reaching roughly 100 million euros.
