Lamda Development: First high-rise tower design, specs unveiled for seaside Helleniko site

Lamda Development on Wednesday unveiled the design and specifications for the first high-rise tower to be built at the Helleniko site in coastal southeast Athens, roughly a week after a concession agreement between the Greek state and the ATHEX-listed developer was finalized and the first payment funneled into state coffers.
Presented during a splashy event that was also broadcast online, Lamda executives billed the “Marina Tower” as the first “green” skyscraper on the seaside Aghios Kosmas portion of the site, adjacent to the current marina.
When completed, the specific 200-meter seafront building will be the tallest in Greece, with executives adding that it will be the “tallest green skyscraper in the Mediterranean”. The design belongs to the architecture firm Foster+Partners.
Lamda, which won an international tender for the Helleniko site more than seven years ago -a massive and highly symbolic privatization by Greek standards- said the tower will feature 200 luxury sea-view apartments among its 45 floors, with a completion timetable extending over the next five years.
Lamda has pledged to construct the towers with the latest in environmentally friendly amenities and designs, along with employing “smart” technology in the residences.
Marina Tower is one of six high-rise buildings that the developer has the right to erect, based on the concession contract.
