Greece will remain off the UK’s “green list” of countries where British citizens can visit and then not be obliged to remain in pandemic-related quarantine.
In fact, no countries were added to the green list on Thursday, whereas popular Portugal was added to the “orange list”.
The disappointing development, for Greek tourism, shattered hopes that at least some islands would be added to the “safe list”.
The next update will come on June 28, with holiday destinations such as Greece, Malta, Italy, France and others awaiting a possible upgrade, which will facilitate greater numbers of British holiday-makers.
British nationals now visiting countries on the second-tier list must remain in quarantine for 10 days at home.
