The revelation that more ministers received state subsidies for rent is creating more problems for the PM’s office.
According to SKAI television, other ministers who received the subsidy were Alternate Research Minister Kostas Fotakis, Panagiotis Sgouridis, and, from the junior coalition partner Independent Greeks, Dimitris Mardas (photo above), who was an extra-parliamentary minister at the time.
Fotakis told Skai that the money that appears to have credited in his name was not for a rent subsidy, but for expenses for temporary accomodations expenses, and that he never used it.
He said the application was submitted when he was uncertain where he would reside. “It does not refer to rent, but to accommodations expenses,” he told Skai.
For his part, Sgouridis said that he received 350 euros for a hotel stay.
