The Greek finance ministry, in a feverish effort to increase bank deposits, is re-examining the possibility of granting Greek citizenship to those who invest substantial sums in Greek real estate or businesses.

The idea is to grant the “golden visa” not only to foreigners who purchase real estate worth 250,000 euros or more, but also to those who maintain deposits of 400,000 euros or more in Greek banks.

The said investment does not concern only bank deposits in Greek banks, but also business investments.

Investors who purchase shares of large value in companies that are headquartered or based in Greece would also be eligible for the so-called “golden visa”.
