Straight on the heels of PM Alexis Tsipras’ telephone contact with his FYROM counterpart, Zoran Zaev, Defence Minister Panos Kammenos has called a press conference for tomorrow, where he is expected to take a stand on the prospective settlement.

Kammenos, whose Independent Greeks party is the junior coalition partner in Tsipras’ government, has repeatedly declared that he will not vote for a settlement in which Greece acquiesces to the use of the name Macedonia by Skopje.

The news conference will be held at the Independent Greeks’ party headquarters, which suggests that Kammenos will articulate his party’s position on the prospective settlement.

It is unclear whether the news conference will be held before or after tomorrow’s decisive, second telephone conversation with Zoran Zaev, after which a deal could be announced.
