Speaking in parliament this morning, Digital Policy Minister Nikos Pappas, one of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras closest advisors, strongly condemned the bomb attack at the appellate court in Athens, which had occurred hours earlier.

Greek police is treating the attack as a terrorist incident. The explosive device contained in a bag was placed by one of the culprits on the steps by the courthouse, and an accomplice in a getaway vehicle fired one shot at the police guard, without injuring him.

“Our democracy has no need for self-appointed judges, nor for acts that endanger the security of citizens and employees at a public service,” Pappas told parliament.

“Parliament signs on to your statement,” replied parliament vice president and veteran New Democracy MP Nikitas Kaklamanis.
